Listowel Memorial Hospital reopens Obstetrical Department

The Listowel Memorial Hospital announced it's Obstetrical Department has reopened after being closed all summer.

The department was temporarily shut down in April due to a staffing shortage, after six of its eight registered nurses went on maternity leave.

"We're happy to announce that our obstetrical services have reopened effective September 16 in Listowel, and it was really warming to hear the first cries of a newborn baby and our staff and our volunteers and board are just so excited about it," said Esther Millar, the new CEO and President of the Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance.

The department offers access to a wide variety of resources, including epidural options, C-sections, well-baby checks, and support to ensure a smooth transition home from hospital.

Those looking to learn more about the hospital's birthing services are encouraged to visit their website, or 519-292-2076.
