It will be all about the Canadiana when the MS Chi-Cheemaun sets sail on the nation's birthday on Tuesday.
The iconic ferry that runs between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island has a long list of Canada Day festivities planned for the day. All those aboard will be able to enjoy a Canada-themed trivia handout, giveaways, and a special Canada Day menu that includes poutine, Canadian pizza, maple mini donuts, and Nanaimo bars.
Those sailing in the afternoon will hear live music and be given a slice of celebratory cake.
There will also be a Canada Day selfie-frame available for people to be able to capture their time onboard.
"It’s the perfect opportunity to mark the holiday with scenic views, joyful music, and the pride of sailing aboard a Canadian-built ship," The Owen Sound Transportation Company, which operates the Chi-Cheemaun, said in a statement. "The MS Chi-Cheemaun, a marvel of engineering, was crafted in Collingwood, Ontario, by the skilled hands at Collingwood Shipyards."
In an effort to allow as many people as possible to sail on Canada Day, walk-on passengers will also be able to bring a guest onboard the MS Chi-Cheemaun for free. In order to avoid long line-ups, it is recommended those planning to do so call the Reservation Line at 1-800-265-3163.
