The Gateway Centre for Excellence in Rural Health recently hosted the first "Health in Huron" event on September 10.
The special event was part of the 5th season of the Rural Health Lecture Series, and was hosted at the Huron County Museum.
Attendees heard about community care in the county, and the evening featured a number of presentations and guest speakers from the healthcare community.
That included a local rural geriatrician, a Gateway Centre Research Chair, a local historian and doctor, and a performance by the Solace Choir from Huron Hospice.
Attendees included residents, community leaders, service club representatives who all participated in discussions surrounding local healthcare in our rural region.
Season 5 of Gateway Centre's Rural Health Lecture Series will continue virtually on Zoom with registration being available at www.gatewayruralhealth.ca. Lectures will take place on the first Tuesday of each month from 12-1 p.m.
The next session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, and will feature a presentation on Rural Transport Medicine by Sean Moore, Northern Medical Director at Ornge Transport.
