Kincardine Marine Heritage Day events planned

The Municipality of Kincardine plans to celebrate its ties to Lake Huron during the 9th Annual Marine Heritage Day.

There will be plenty to do and see at the fun filled family event.

One of the highlights will be tours of Playfair Tall Ship. The public can tour The 72-foot long steel-hulled brigantine, launched in 1974 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II. Playfair’s youth crew, aged 13-18, has been spending the summer sailing Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, and the North Channel.

Marine Heritage Days will feature Shipwreck Exhibits and an OPP boat tour. People can check out a Rescue Unit Display and Dockside tour, as well as tour the Walker house and the lighthouse.

Children can try creating some crafts or get their face painted. Blinky, the town mascot, will also be on hand.

The festivities are scheduled to take place Saturday August 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event is open to everyone.
