Pedestrian and dog struck by vehicle in Arthur

A pedestrian has been airlifted to a trauma centre and a dog was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer in Arthur on Thursday.

Emergency services responded to the collision around noon on April 9 at the intersection of Hwy 6 and Frederick Street East.

According to police, the tractor-trailer was attempting to turn right onto eastbound Frederick Street when the person walking their dog was struck.

The person was transported by air ambulance to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was declared dead on the scene.

OPP say the investigation is still ongoing, and roads in the area were reopened around 3:15 p.m.
