Suspect Surrenders
A suspect has turned themselves in to police following multiple Traffic Act allegations.
Chatham-Kent police say the unidentified suspect is charged with flight from police, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, driving a vehicle without a proper licence, and owning and operating a vehicle without compulsory insurance.
The charges stem from a theft investigation at a Tilbury retail store on Saturday.
Police said a motorcycle driver later matched the suspect's description, but they took off when officers tried to stop the motorcycle.
The bike was later discovered on its side and unattended on Middle Line, east of King and Whittle Road in Essex County.
The Ontario Provincial Police in Essex said they made contact with the accused in Essex, confirmed the suspect’s alleged involvement, and found that he did not possess a valid motorcycle licence or insurance at the time of the incident.
