The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the 79th annual Rural Urban Awards.
They were given out on Thursday at the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus to several people and businesses in the agricultural/food-producing sector.
“[The award ceremony] is about the people who feed our communities, power our economy, and invest so deeply in the future of Chatham-Kent,” said Rory Ring, Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce.
Taking home the Future Leader of the Year award was Kane Brown-McKerrall.
John Zandstra, a professor at the University of Guelph, received the Friend of Agriculture award.
Brad Snobelen, the past president of the Kent Federation of Agriculture (KFA), was named Agriculturist of the Year.
The KFA's Jay Cunningham received the Agriculture Innovator of the Year award as an individual, while Country Market Garden received the Award for a business.
Sarah Graham took home the last award, Women in Agriculture, for her farm market.
