The rehabilitation of the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant has been delayed again.
Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission General Manager Darren Galbraith told the commission on Thursday afternoon that the rehabilitation has been delayed by three months and the facility won't be ready to get back online until sometime in November.
Galbraith also said that the temporary water treatment trailers and equipment will be taken off line next month to prepare for winter and the system will revert back to Leamington's water system once again.
He said the temporary water plant continues to meet demand.
Councillor Lauren Anderson is once again thanking Leamington for being so neighbourly and accommodating.
A fire broke out at the plant on September 13, 2023 in the generator room during regular maintenance and significantly damaged the pump, the compressors, and electrical wires, which must be replaced, along with several other critical plant components that were damaged in the blaze.
