Goderich woman charged after second dog attack

A Goderich resident has been charged with criminal negligence following a second serious dog attack in the town.

Huron County OPP reported that the most recent incident happened on July 29, 2025, on Gibbons Street. A victim, who was on a mobility scooter and walking their dog, was injured when two dogs attacked them.

Police confirm the same dogs were involved in another attack nearly a year earlier. That incident, on August 3, 2024, left a pedestrian injured and resulted in the death of one of their dogs. The owner was charged at that time under Ontario’s Dog Owner Liability Act (DOLA).

Following the latest investigation, a 36-year-old from Goderich has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The suspect was arrested, processed, and later released with a court appearance scheduled for October 6, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

The dogs remain in the owner’s possession pending the outcome of a DOLA hearing.
