Television series featuring CK to premiere at Capitol Theatre

A one-of-a-kind production wants the Chatham-Kent community to be a part of its premiere.

'Deep Southwest' is a five-part musical comedy shot entirely in CK, with a local cast and crew featuring the municipality.

The series was created by Patrick and Megan Whalen and Ben Srokosz, and it's set to be released later this month.

"We thought we'd have a huge premiere party, where you get to see the show, and we wanted to make sure that Chatham saw it first," said Megan. "We wanted to thank everybody for being a part of it. So, come out and see it and be part of the party."

The couple says they're grateful to the Chatham-Kent community, which was involved in every part of the show.

"It was really heartwarming and breathtaking how many people just said yes to helping us," Patrick shared. "Whether it was locations or extras or actors... We just said 'hey, we need help' and boom, people came in and were there for us."

Megan added that more people are slated to make projects in Chatham-Kent, saying that she's happy to see art made in their home.

"We're trying to make great art in our city," she said. "We want to show the world and Canada specifically, that there are great artists and they're worthy of your attention that live right here."

The red carpet event and screening will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Capitol Theatre. After the premiere there will be an afterparty at the River Rock.

The events are open to the public, tickets are available at CKtickets.com.

"Come dressed up, come dressed down, just come dressed," Megan said. Patrick added that there will be some surprises in store throughout the night, as well as prizes, and a lot of fun.

The show will hit the airwaves on Bell Fibe TV1 on March 20.
