You can now book a direct flight to Orlando from Windsor, through National Airlines.
President and CEO of National Edward Davidson says he was approached by Windsor International Airport officials about six months ago.
"We took a look at the passenger numbers and we took a look at what the residents of Windsor, today, are having to do to get to south Florida," he explains. "You either have to drive across the bridge to Detroit, drive all the way to Toronto, or take a charter flights, and we said, 'This is really an excellent opportunity for us.'"
Boeing 757 aircrafts will fly twice a week from Windsor to Orlando's Sanford International Airport, starting on December 17.
Rates are being introduced at about $300 per round-trip.
Davidson expects to stay competitive with Spirit, which offers flights out of Detroit, with incentives like free bags and drinks as well as higher quality airplanes.
