Before the LaSalle Strawberry Festival, there are preparations, and event organizers need your help.
The Town of LaSalle is inviting community members to come help clean strawberries on June 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing on Front Road.
No need to register, volunteers can commit to one hour or the whole evening, including high school students looking for community service hours towards their graduation.
There are a lot of strawberries to clean. Each June, the Town of LaSalle orders 300 flats of fresh, locally-grown strawberries from Raymont's Berries in Cottam to serve at the festival.
Parking is available at the Event Centre, with additional parking at the Riverdance Building, just a short walk away.
The strawberries will be served with ice cream during the festival, which runs from June 11 to June 14 at the Vollmer Recreation Complex.
