MPP Andrew Dowie wants to know who has the best holiday display

It's called the Griswold Awards, and for good reason.

Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie is looking for the home or business with the loudest, most festive holiday decorations.

For the second year now, Dowie hopes to spur some competition between neighbours and recognize those who not only showcase their love for Christmas but embody its spirit of spreading cheer to all who pass by.

"The Griswold awards are a small way we can show appreciation and recognition for the time and effort our neighbours make during the holiday season," said Dowie. "Last year, we had a great time visiting the decorated homes of residents, and we are excited to recognize those who contribute to spreading holiday cheer in our community once again."

Residents are invited to nominate the home or business that exemplifies the spirit of the Griswold family from the movie, 'Christmas Vacation.' Submissions, along with a photo, the nominee's name and address, should be emailed to Andrew.dowie@pc.ola.org.

Those who are nominated will receive a certificate from Dowie's constituency office.

His staff will choose the top ten entries for a special certificate presented by Dowie.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 13.

Meanwhile, Dowie invites residents to celebrate the Windsor Santa Claus Parade with him.

Dowie plans to charter a shuttle bus to and from the parade. Afterwards, everyone is invited to the Factory House for appetizers.

Those who are interested can call Cole Gorham at 519-251-5199 or register online.
