Stellantis Canada and its employees made the single largest donation to this year's United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent fundraising campaign.
Employees and retirees raised a total of $746,756.24 for the organization.
"We just continually prove that we care and we understand what giving back to the community means," said Dave Bellaire, Windsor Assembly Plant Manager. "This is proof positive of yet another thing this plant has done for the community."
The funds will go toward the Ignite Academy supporting low-income youth in the community.
"This is about helping young people and their families to remove barriers so that they can reduce the stress in their household, that they can have healthy food to eat, they can keep the lights on in their home," said Lorraine Goddard, CEO United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent.
The donation was announced at General Brock Public School in Windsor Tuesday morning.
Unifor Local 444 and Stellantis officials also donated school supplies and athletic equipment to the school.
