Two charged after OPP find them asleep in a vehicle

An Ontario Provincial Police officer found illicit cannabis, what they believe is fentanyl and weapons in a vehicle on Russell Street in Leamington.

The officer was on patrol early Wednesday morning when he noticed a vehicle with its engine running and two people asleep inside.

He attempted to wake them up when he found open alcohol in the vehicle with them, along with a firearm.

A 46-year-old Kingsville woman faces drug and weapons charges, including possession of a firearm that had its serial number tampered with, possession of a loaded prohibited weapon, and careless storage of a firearm.

A 36-year-old man from Kingsville also faces charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The two suspects were taken into custody until a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
