Matthew House Windsor gears up for 2024 Ride for Refuge

An agency that helps refugees in the City of Windsor is preparing for its largest fundraiser of the year and hopes you'll come out.

This year's Ride for Refuge is on October 5. It's a family-friendly bike and walk, supporting local charities serving people seeking safety and freedom. It takes place across Canada every fall.

"Matthew House is a 100 per cent donor-funded charity that receives no government funding for its work," said executive director Mike Morency. "It is completely dependent on charitable individuals and partners to provide its services."

Those interested in participating can register online. There is no fee to take part, but donations are encouraged.

"Ride participants stand in solidarity with people who have little or no voice. They help to ensure that they don't get left behind or ignored," added Morency.

The bike and walk starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Following the ride, participants are invited back to Matthew House at 3185 Forest Glade Drive for a fall barbecue, raffle prizes, and giveaways.
