You may get a knock on your door from a Windsor agency seeking support for their mission.
The Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and Families is in its first-ever door-to-door canvass for fundraising. Representatives and volunteers will be in neighbourhoods across Windsor-Essex this summer knocking on doors.
"For us, a campaign that focuses on monthly giving provides a really simple and convenient way for the community to support, but also gives critical financial stability to the agency, allowing us to create impact where it’s needed the most right now," said Executive Director Lady Laforet. "Whether it’s funding our peer workers, our volunteer program, building maintenance, or just basic needs items, monthly giving is a great way to make a bigger impact on our mission to provide quality services to women-plus in the community."
Canvassers will have a lanyard with a photo ID badge and wear dark pink vests with the Welcome Centre logo. GlobalFaces Direct has partnered with the Welcome Centre on the campaign.
Fundraisers will not take cash donations at the door. They will carry encrypted tablets to collect payments electronically. Canvassers will work Monday through Saturday through July 31.
The agency also encourages residents to visit its website and consider becoming a monthly donor for as little as $5 per month.
The Welcome Centre calls its donors "keyholders", calling attention to the funds supporting core programs for women and children in the shelter, and unlocking doors to housing, support, and services in the community.
