Colleagues who have enjoyed playing the lottery for years are celebrating a big prize.
The group of four coworkers, Christopher Nielsen, Sean Hinnegan, and Sergio Dibiase of Windsor, and James Kaschak of Tecumseh, have played the OLG's Pools game for ten years. One weekly wager has resulted in a windfall worth $82,710.60.
Each member of the group rotates who makes the selections each week, and that particular week was Dibiase's turn.
Three of the group members picked up the prize cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
"We were all texting each other in celebration," said Kaschak. "I woke up my wife to tell her right away because I didn't believe it. I needed her to make sure I wasn't dreaming."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Unique Convenience store on Dougall Avenue in Windsor.
Dibiase plans to use his portion of the win for a family vacation to Europe, along with Nielsen. Kaschak is planning to renovate his kitchen.
Players can play Pools for $5, which allows them to pick a sport and card number, and try to predict the outcome of each matchup. Picking the most correct choices results in prizes.
