The Stoney Point Branch of the Essex County Library will celebrate its grand opening next week.
The new branch will be located at 850 Comber Side Road. It was approved in December 2021 as the temporary home of the library until a permanent solution can be found.
"As a Library Board, we are very happy to support the re-opening of the Stoney Point Branch so the community can once again have a gathering place and utilize all the new resources that have been added," said Tecumseh Deputy Mayor and Library Board Chair Joe Bachetti.
The branch will give residents free public internet access and an updated collection of books.
"This community has been very patiently waiting for us to resume regular service, and the excitement has been palpable. We hear from residents who are excited to see the library reopening in their area on a weekly basis," said Adam Craig, chief librarian.
The grand opening celebration of the Stoney Point Branch is set for Saturday, February 25 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The new hours of operation can be found here.
The Essex County Library is still working to bring services back up to pre-pandemic levels. The Ruthven Branch is set to reopen on March 6 and the Cottam Branch will reopen on March 20.
The Comber Branch is still undergoing renovations. A reopening date has not been finalized.
