Lakeshore to hold public session on stormwater plan

The Municipality of Lakeshore has invited residents to learn about the next phase of its stormwater master plan.

A public information session is set for Wednesday, with representatives from the Municipality and Civica Infrastructure Inc. on hand to explain phase two of the plan and answer questions.

"This phase of the plan will focus on ten communities not covered in Phase 1, which include Comber, Lighthouse Cove, Ruscom, Rochester/Deerbrook, St. Joachim, Staples, Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches, and Woodslee, as well as areas near Essex and Tilbury," read a media release.

Mayor Tracey Bailey said with major flood events in the region over the past few years, it's important that residents are up to speed on what is being done to keep those events from happening again.

"We know that flooding is one of the most important issues affecting our communities, and this event will be a great opportunity for residents to learn about our stormwater systems and have their say on a plan that will guide infrastructure, capital investments, and operational improvements for years to come," said Bailey.

Lakeshore's Stormwater Management Master Plan is expected to be ready by the end of 2023.

Wednesday's public information session will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Comber Community Centre.

Complete information about the Lakeshore flood outlook can be found on the Municipality's official website.
