Ready to flip the switch on Bright Lights Windsor

After weeks of anticipation and preparation, the City of Windsor will flip the switch Friday night and illuminate Jackson Park.

Millions of Christmas lights will turn off, kicking off the start of this year's Bright Lights Windsor festival.

The opening ceremonies start at 6:30 p.m.

Tens of thousands of spectators are expected to enjoy the many lights and displays in Jackson Park until January 8.

Preparations started in October.

This year's festival will pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II with a new Royal Promenade.

"We're inviting everyone to take it all in at Jackson Park's incredible wonderland," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens in November.

The event features the Holiday Train, the Enchanted Children's Village, Santa's Workshop, and the WE Made It Holiday Market on Friday and Saturday nights.

Every Tuesdsay will offer a sensory-friendly night where sound will be muted and strobe elements turnded off.

The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly.
