Windsor police issue several warnings under Emergency Orders Act

The Windsor Police Service, along with City of Windsor by-law enforcement officers, have handed out several warnings and issued three tickets under the Emergency Orders Act.

The Windsor Police Auxillary has been patrolling Windsor parks to educate people on the emergency orders.

"Education is our main focus, to educate people as to these laws that did not exist prior to this pandemic," said Deputy Chief Brad Hill.

Since the pandemic began, auxiliary officers have issued 13 warnings and by-law enforcement officers have issued 85 warnings. The Windsor police morality officers have been deployed to visit any stores that may be operating against the emergency orders. They give out warnings on a first offence and tickets to repeat offenders.

"So far we've had a lot of cooperation and really very little problems, so, so far so good," said Deputy Hill.

Residents wanting to file complaints about large gatherings are asked to call 311 during business hours and the non-emergency police line, 519-258-6111, during off-hours.
