Speeding continues to be a problem in Lasalle, according to police.
On Friday, LaSalle police conducted traffic enforcement at various locations throughout the town and laid 22 charges for speeding. Officers also issued a number of other tickets for various offences.
The same day a driver was caught going 105 km/hr in a 50 zone on Morton Drive and a second driver was clocked doing 100 km/hr in a 50 zone on Front Road near Marcel Lane. They were charged with stunt driving, their driver's licences were suspended for seven days and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days.
Then another driver was charged with impaired driving.
Later on Reaume Road, a driver was charged for driving while having a suspended licence.
Police said traffic enforcement will continue indefinitely and they're asking "that everyone be patient and drive carefully".
Lasalle police decided to crack down on speeders and dangerous driving last month after several complaints from the public. The number of driving complaints reported to police have increased 64 per cent over the last five years, according to Lasalle police.
They added that the percentage of vehicle crashes with injuries has also jumped.
Police said the area of Morton Drive between Matchette Road and Front Road is one of the biggest problem spots.
