Chamber to sign MOU with food processors in India

The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce wants to open up the markets in a central Indian state to local agri-food businesses.

It will sign a memorandum of understanding Monday night at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts with the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation.

Chhattisgarh is a central Indian state known for forests, temples and waterfalls.

Under the memorandum of understanding companies here in the agri-food processing business will share technology and information between agri-food businesses in Windsor-Essex and food processors in the Indian state. It will also open markets for those companies in the two countries.

The president and CEO of the Chamber, Rakesh Naidu, said it would give local agri-food and food processing companies greater access to a growing market in India.

"We see this as a win-win relationship that will provide markets for the advancement in technology that we have achieved in the Windsor-Essex region and support the growth of Windsor-Essex companies in India," he said.
