In a case of "here we go again", the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) is warning about the potential of flooding.
ERCA has issued a watershed conditions statement for Wednesday evening due to showers and isolated thunderstorms being in the forecast, creating the likelihood of flooding in low-lying areas and surface ponding in urban areas.
The forecast calls for showers and the chance of thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours at the rate of ten to 20 millimetres per hour, which can put further strain on existing standing water conditions, according to ERCA watershed resource engineer James Bryant. Areas affected by multiple instances of rainfall may receive 30 millimetres of rain.
All of Windsor-Essex is already under a flood watch through at least June 15, as record-high water levels have been recorded on Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, and the Detroit River.
This watershed statement is in effect through Thursday morning.
