A Windsor woman has been charged for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
Windsor police said the vehicle was warming up on McKay Avenue near West Grand Boulevard, unattended, and with the keys in the ignition around 7 a.m. on Friday when it was taken. Officers found the stolen vehicle on Rankin Avenue near Randolph Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. and arrested a woman nearby, who was in possession of the vehicle's keys.
Tabitha Lacount, 36, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
The vehicle's owner was given a warning about leaving unattended vehicles running without removing the key from the ignition. It is an offence under a city bylaw and carries a $100 fine. Windsor police are reminding drivers not to leave vehicles running unattended without removing the ignition key.
