MLB The Toronto Blue Jays fell to the Yankees 3-2 Tuesday night, dropping their record to 3-5 on the young season. Detroit knocked off 14 hits en route to a 8-2 win over Pittsburgh. The Baltimore Orioles remain undefeated as they pounded the Boston Red Sox 9-5 to win their seventh straight game.

NHL The playoffs get underway tonight with Detroit in Tampa Bay to take on the injury riddled Lightning, who will be without captain Steven Stamkos. Also on tonight, Pittsburgh hosts the New York Rangers and the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks take on the Blues in St. Louis.

OHL Justin Scott scored another big goal for Barrie as the Colts doubled up North Bay 4-2 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Chandler Yakimowicz scored the OT winner in Kitchener last night as the Rangers now find themselves in the 3-0 hole against London.

Tonight, a must win game for first place Kingston, who trails Niagara 3-0. Sault Ste Marie will try and even their series with Erie trailing 2-1.

NBA Toronto beat Philadelphia 122-98 and close out the regular season in Brooklyn tonight. Detroit fell to Miami and Indiana won, setting up a first round match up between the Pistons and Cleveland. Toronto will face Indiana in the opening round.

Tonight, the Golden State Warriors will look to make history on the last night of the N-B-A regular season. A win tonight against visiting Memphis would give the Warriors 73 on the season, one more than the record of 72 set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

IIHF a late goal left Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team on the short end of a 4-3 decision against Sweden on Tuesday night. Sting defenceman Jakob Chyhcrun recorded an assist in the loss. The Canadians open the U-18 worlds against Denmark on Friday in North Dakota. Also, Kobe Bryant plays his final game as the Lakers host Utah.

TRACK AND FIELD Twins Nick and Caroline Forbes helped lead Northern Collegiate to a team title at the York Indoor Track Meet last weekend, finishing first in among the 53 schools. They both won their respective 1500m events. Seven Northern Athletes had first place finishes including Kelly Hodgins (Senior Girls 60m hurdles), Sebastian Smith (Senior boys long jump), Niles Crews (senior boys high jump), Andrew Davies (Junior Boys 2000m) and Alec Trusler (junior boys triple jump).

GOLF On this day in 2003, Mike Weir became the first and only Canadian to win a men's golf major by winning the Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
