Anthony Salinitri scored twice, and Patrick White had a goal and two assists, as the Sarnia Sting defeated the Spirit 5-4 in a shootout in Saginaw Saturday.
The hometown Spirit got on the board first when Matthew Kreis scored his 10th of the season just 2:49 in.
The game remained 1-0 until Patrick White was hauled down on a breakaway early in the second period. He capitalized on the ensuing penalty shot to tie the contest 1-1. Sting tough guy Noah Bushnell put the Sting ahead with a goal of his own just 1:09 later.
The Spirit's Dylan Sadowy notched an unassisted goal to pull Saginaw back even just 17 seconds after Bushnell's tally.
The goal scoring continued 10 minutes later when Anthony Salinitri scored his first of the game on a pass from Pavel Zacha to put Sarnia back in front 3-2.
Mitchell Stephens and Connor Brown scored late second period goals to put the Spirit ahead 4-3 after two.
Anthony Salinitri sent the game to overtime with his second goal of the game 8:08 into the third period. Patrick White and Jeff King picked up the assists.
A scoreless overtime led to a shootout where Pavel Zacha and Travis Konecny each scored to seal the Sting victory.
Sting defenceman Kevin Spinozzi says it was a good win.

Goaltender Charlie Graham picked up the win in his Sting debut, stopping 38 of 42 Saginaw shots. The overage goalie was recently acquired from the Hamilton Bulldogs for goalie Kaden Fulcher.
Spirit goalie Evan Cormier stopped 36 of 40 shots.
For the Sting, the win improves them to 20-11-5-1 on the season, good for 46 points. They remain seven points back of the division leading Windsor Spitfires.
