Sarnia police cite driver going almost double the speed limit

Sarnia police have reminded drivers that excessive speed and rain do not mix, after citing a stunt driver on Wednesday.

Shortly before noon, a patrol officer in the area of Wellington Street and Cassandra Boulevard clocked a vehicle being driven at 95 kilometres per hour, in a 50 kilometre-per-hour zone.

Police reported that it was raining at the time of the violation, which had made the excessive speed very dangerous.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and cited the unidentified driver for stunt driving.

The driver will try walking for 30 days, as their licence was suspended. Their vehicle was also sent to an impound lot for 14 days.
