Lambton library's winter reading challenge underway

Lambton County Library has organized several "author talks" over the next month as part of its annual winter reading challenge.

Residents of all ages can set reading goals and complete challenges until March 16 for a chance to win prizes. Library card holders can register for the challenge, which officially kicked off on January 25, through the online platform Beanstack or at any Lambton County Library location.

In the meantime, library programming has been scheduled to get people into the reading spirit.

On February 8, local Photographer Shaun Antle will share photos and stories from his Arctic expedition at the Alvinston Library from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

On February 11, Author Waubgeshig Rice will discuss his latest book Moon of the Turning Leaves. The virtual author talk is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Sarnia Library Theatre.

On February 18, an online author talk will be held with Journalist and Author Lee Hawkins, who will discuss his memoir, I Am Nobody's Slave. The event will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

On February 28, an episode from Black Life: Untold Stories will be screened at the Sarnia Library Theatre, followed by a talk with Activist and Author Gabriel Allahdua. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

On March 4, Author Sara Weed and Illustrator Erin Hawryluk will read from the children's book, Getting Glam at Gram's. A craft activity will also be held at the Petrolia Library from 4 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
