100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce donate $34K to Saugeen Hospice

A group of community-minded women in Grey-Bruce has made its largest donation to date, with 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce presenting a cheque for $34,400 to Saugeen Hospice Inc.

The funds will go toward the purchase of a cuddle bed for the future hospice, a specially designed bed that allows loved ones to remain close during end-of-life care. Saugeen Hospice is nearing its $10 million fundraising goal to begin construction on a facility that will provide compassionate residential palliative care to residents in southern Grey and Bruce counties.

The donation marks another milestone for the group, which meets four times per year with each member contributing $100 per meeting. Charities are nominated and voted on by members, with the winning organization receiving the entire collected donation.

In 2024 alone, the group donated over $107,000 to local charities, and it's on pace to exceed that total this year.

The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce is scheduled for Saturday, September 6 at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton. New members are always welcome.
