Museums host holiday events

Lambton Heritage Museum and the Oil Museum of Canada are holding festive PA Day events for families to enjoy on Friday, November 17.

The drop-in style Holiday Open House events at both sites will take place between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A costumed historical reenactor will be at the Lambton Heritage Museum to demonstrate how early settlers prepared for Christmas. Activity and craft stations will also be set up at the Grand Bend museum, along with hay rides.

“We’re excited to host this popular festive event,” said Educational Program Coordinator Colleen Inglis. “Visitors can enjoy warm apple cider and the cozy atmosphere of our historic buildings heated by wood-burning stoves, while learning about several of Lambton’s interesting holiday traditions.”

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and $3 for children. Those aged three and under are free. Family admission (up to two adults and four school-aged children) is $15.

Meanwhile, the Oil Museum will feature holiday craft and candle-dipping activities. Victorian Santa will also stop by to take pictures with children.

“We are thrilled to once again offer this magical holiday experience at the Oil Museum of Canada,” said Educational Program Coordinator Christina Sydorko. “Kids can make fun holiday-themed crafts, enjoy snacks, and sample Wassail, a traditional holiday drink made from apple cider."

There will be no admission fee at the Oil Museum thanks to Shell Canada. Those who attend are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the local food bank.
