This year's Lambton County Plowing Match will mark 100 years since the first International Plowing Match (IPM) was held in the area.
The plowing match will be held in Sarnia on Saturday, September 2.
Lambton County Plowmen's Association Treasurer Dennis Bryson said the event will feature classic, antique, and horse plowing.
He said there will be two horse teams, however, spectators are asked to respect the horses by giving them some space.
Bryson said they're planning to have a few displays set up at the event to mark the milestone, including one from the Lambton Heritage Museum.
"The curator will talk about the 1923 match, which was, of course, 100 years ago in Lambton and it was in Sarnia," Bryson said.
At that time in 1923, John Goodison hosted the IPM. Bryson said they found a steam threshing machine made by Goodison which will be available for spectators.
This year's plowing match (to commemorate the first IPM held in the county) comes on the heels of last year's 100th anniversary of the Lambton County Plowing Match.
While admission is free, the Petrolia Lions Food Booth will be on-site for people to purchase items.
The event site will be located on the southwest corner of Waterworks Road and Confederation Line.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and plowing will start at 10 a.m.
Bryson said he hopes to see more attendees as it varies from year to year.
"Our event struggles a bit as it goes around the county sometimes," he said. "Last year, I think we had about 500 to 750 people, cars came and cars went. We think this year, we could have maybe 350 to 500 people."
Meanwhile, this year's IPM will be held from September 19-23 in Bowling Green, Dufferin County.
