A Sarnia golfer won a new car Thursday after firing a hole-in-one at Bluewater Health's annual Golf for Health event.
Jamie Carson recorded the ace on the 165-yard seventh hole at Sarnia Golf and Curling Club.
Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said it's the first time a golfer has won a car in the 24-year history of the event.
"You could feel a buzz throughout the entire course-- news kind of spread like wildfire that someone had actually hit a hole-in-one at our tournament," said Alexander. "So Jamie won $50,000 towards a new vehicle through Lexus of London, but it was just really exciting and it really put some momentum on the day. It was a beautiful day in support of our community hospital, and Jamie is such a very worthy recipient and such a great supporter of our community."

Alexander said Carson also won a golf trip thanks to his ace.
"It's at French Lick Resort and that's a great added bonus," she said. "He can drive his new car down to Indiana to check out the sites and play some golf."
Alexander said the 2019 tournament raised over $25,000 for new equipment at Bluewater Health.
