Canadian lawyer and First Nations activist Roberta Jamieson is the guest speaker at Lambton College's 52nd annual convocation ceremony Saturday.
Vice President of Student Success and Campus Services Rob Kardas said they'll be presenting her with an honorary diploma in Liberal Studies -- Indigenous Studies to add to her growing collection of 26 honorary degrees.
"Roberta is the CEO of Indspire, which is a non-profit organization that's committed to assisting young Indigenous people with their education," said Kardas. "She's got quite the background in terms of being the first Indigenous woman in Canada to get a law degree, first female Ombudsman of Ontario and first woman ever elected as Chief of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory."
She also served as a Commissioner of the Indian Commission of Ontario.

Kardas said Jamieson has been a long time advocate for greater diversity on corporate boards and is a former member of the Gender Equality Advisory Council for Canada's G7 Presidency and Hydro One's Board of Directors.
He said hundreds of students and their families are expected to attend the ceremony Saturday afternoon.
"We're really excited. It's always the most important day on our college calendar. We have approximately 1,400 eligible graduates and of that, we expect, based on RSVP's, just more than 600 to attend to cross the stage."
Kardas recommends coming early because parking is limited due to construction.
"We're going to have some attendants out to try to guide people, it's not a normal year with respect to the work that's going on, but we're confident we've got enough parking spots and the contractor is being very good about opening up a couple lots."
The ceremony at Progressive Auto Sales Arena begins at 2 p.m.
