The Western Sarnia Lambton Research Park is hosting its 14th annual Capstone competition Friday.
Executive Director Katherine Albion says over 70 students, from UWO's department of chemical and biochemical engineering, will present projects in one of three categories; chemical and petrochemical processes, biochemical processes and green and environmental processes.
"They will be presenting their design projects, which they've been working on all year that incorporates all of their learning from the past four years of their degree into their design projects," said Albion. "They'll be presenting their equipment design and calculations, safety and environmental assessments and economic analysis to panels of industrial judges and competing for awards at this event."
Albion said she's always impressed by the students' innovative ideas.
"A lot of them relate to our Sarnia-Lambton industries and could be potential future projects that some of these industries will be looking at incorporating into their existing processes in the future," she said.
Presentations are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until the awards are handed out at 2 p.m.
The event is open to the public.
