The County of Lambton is now offering adult day programs six days a week at Marshall Gowland Manor and Lambton Meadowview Villa.
The expanded services were made possible through a $50,000 grant from the Erie St. Clair LHIN under the Ontario Dementia Strategy.
GM of Long-Term Care Jane Joris said it's a great benefit for those involved.
The program was used over 6,700 times in 2018.
"They can come in for the day and have some recreational activities, socialization, a hot meal, and in Sarnia they can also have a bath," said Joris. "We had a wait-list for both programs so we're able to open up one more day a week at each site to offer services to some new people as well as some people who want to come another day."
Joris said the service benefits those of all ages by offering a wide range of physical and cognitive activities.
She said they can see an extra 21 people a week in Sarnia and 17 weekly in Petrolia.
They're covering off the hours using existing staff, and aren't making any new hires.
