Owen Sound Police says a 23-year-old man is facing numerous charges, including drug trafficking, after fleeing the scene of a disturbance on Sunday afternoon.
Around 4 p.m. on April 13, officers responded to a reported issue at an apartment building on the city’s west side. According to police, the suspect fled the residence in a vehicle prior to arrival.
Officers attempted to stop the man’s vehicle on multiple occasions — resulting in road closures in the region — but the pursuits were called off, citing public safety.
However, with the help of the OPP Air Support and K9 Unit, the suspect was located just east of Owen Sound and taken into custody on Monday morning.
Police say a search warrant was obtained for the involved residence, resulting in the seizure of a quantity of fentanyl equivalent to over 800 individual doses, approximately 800 grams of cocaine and over $30,000.
As a result of the investigation, the man of no fixed address is facing charges including: assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of flight from police and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
