4-gas monitors now available for rent at North Perth public libraries

Residents can now borrow new tools from North Perth Public Library branches that detect different types of gases.

The new 4-gas monitors detect the presence of four critical gases: oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and combustible gases. The monitors provide real-time gas readings and will have an alarm go off if unsafe levels are detected. This can be critical, especially in confined spaces where gases can build up more easily.

According to a media release from the Municipality of North Perth, the portable, handheld, battery-powered devices will be available to borrowers at no cost, equipped with step-by-step instructions on their usage.

There are six of the monitors available to rent, with two each at all three North Perth Public Library branches.

The initiative was approved last December by North Perth Council in an effort to enhance the safety and education of the farming community concerning grain bin and silo incidents.
