Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is warning the public of a new measles exposure site.
Anyone who visited the Stratford General Hospital Emergency Department's waiting room on Thursday between 4:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. should make sure their vaccination is up to date.
Along with getting vaccinated, anyone who may have been exposed to the measles virus should monitor for symptoms for seven to 21 days.
Symptoms include a mild to moderate fever, coughing, runny nose, and red eyes about 10-12 days after exposure. Tiny blue-white spots inside the mouth may also be present.
A red blotchy rash appears 3-7 days after these initial symptoms, usually on the face at first, along the hairline, and then spreading to the neck, trunk, arms, legs, and feet, lasting five to six days.
