Applications open for Walkerton Clean Water Legacy Award

The Municipality of Brockton has opened applications for the fifth annual Walkerton Clean Water Legacy Award.

The award recognizes local students who are pursuing careers in environmental science or clean water management. The recipient will receive a $1,500 scholarship to support their studies at a recognized college or university, or at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the fifth year of this award, which recognizes the hard work and dedication of local students committed to environmental stewardship and clean water protection," said Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody. "Ensuring the safety and sustainability of our natural resources remains a top priority, and we are proud to continue supporting the important work of the Walkerton Clean Water Centre."

Students from Bruce and Grey Counties are encouraged to apply online.

The deadline for submissions is May 31. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local representatives under the guidance of the Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

In 2024, the award was shared between two students, Rachel Woods and Kiera De Michele.
