An 18-year-old snowmobiler from Perth County is dead after a crash on a local trail Sunday night.
Emergency crews were called to the collision on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trail between Perth Road 135 and Perth Road 140 just after 8:30 p.m.
According to OPP, the lone snowmobile hit a tree.
The 18-year-old operator from Perth County was rushed to hospital where they later died from their injuries.
The name of the deceased has not been released.
"I would just like to send out my deepest and sincere condolences to all family members and friends that have been affected by this tragedy. As a parent, I cannot even imagine what you are going through," Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media. "To all of our call takers, dispatchers, first responders and good Samaritans that were on that trail tonight, thank you.”
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, Sanchuk said.
