Family donates significant sum toward hospital foundation

The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation has received a large donation from a local family.

A release from the foundation shares that the Proctor family from the Belgrave area have donated $100,000 towards the foundation's Caring Together campaign, aimed at bringing a brand new CT scanner to Wingham.

The Procter's are hoping their gift inspires more giving towards the campaign, which has raised over $2.2 million of its $2.5 million dollar goal for the CT scanner.

Settling in Morris Township, near Belgrave, in 1851, the Procter family has deep roots in the community. Six generations of farmers in the family include George and Elizabeth, Kate and Jennifer, and now Wes Klages.

Kate is a dedicated advocate for agriculture in Huron County. She believes that farmers are united in their values of supporting the communities where their families and employees can build good lives.

“Giving back to our local hospital and making sure we have the services we need is so important to the health of everyone we care about and to the strength of our community,” said Procter.

“In the same way that farmers need the right equipment for the job so to do our skilled healthcare workers. The Procter family deeply understands that,” added WDH Foundation Executive Director Nicole Duquette-Jutzi. “Whether it’s a rare farm accident or one of the aches and pains hard-working farmers develop the Procters’ generous gift means our hospital will be well equipped to provide essential care in every scenario.”
