Walkerton launches new dog park

The new dog park in Walkerton has launched.

Brockton council approved Lobies Park as the location for the municipality's first dog park at an April meeting. The park will be piloted at this location for a year before council decides on a long-term solution.

The Municipality announced this week that temporary fencing has gone up, providing local dog owners with a dedicated space for their pets to exercise, socialize and play freely in a safe and secured area.

Staff say the future design plans with permanent fencing would extend the size of the park closer to Yonge Street and that trees will be planted this spring to provide future shade canopy in the planned expansion area.

The Municipality is looking for public input on the future planning for a permanent off-leash dog park, so an anonymous survey has been posted online.

Users of the dog park can share their thoughts on the park and the results will be presented to Council prior to confirmation of the final plan for 2025.
