Easter Weekend keeps OPP officers busy

OPP officers across Grey Bruce laid plenty of charges during the Provincial Easter Long Weekend Traffic Safety Campaign.

The four day traffic initiative targeted the "Big Four" factors related in death and injuries on highways, trails, and waterways.

In Grey Bruce, officers issued 25 seatbelt tickets, two stunt driving charges, two charges for driving while using a cell phone, and four of disobeying a stop sign. In all, 146 tickets were distributed.

South Bruce OPP handed out 54 speeding charges, two driving while suspended violations, one impaired, one distracted driving, and five seatbelt offences. There were 123 total charges, along with 53 warnings issued. There were no motor vehicle collisions reported in South Bruce during the traffic safety initiative.

All available members were out on the roads to ensure drivers were keeping safety top of mind between March 29 and April 1.

Anyone with information can call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca.
