Stratford police plead for tips to solve pair of break-ins

Stratford Police are looking for any leads that will help them solve a pair of break-ins reported Monday morning.

First, police were called to a business along Lorne Avenue East around 8:30 a.m. They learned that a back fence had been cut, providing access to a storage facility containing acetylene and hydrogen bottles. A total of 15 cylinders were taken, but some were believed to be empty.

The theft occurred sometime overnight on Sunday.

Then, police were called to the Erie Drive-In restaurant around 10 a.m. where another break-in was reported.

A fence at the back of the Erie Street property was cut, allowing access to several freezers. Police say approximately $500 in food was taken.

There are no suspects in either matter at this time.

Anyone with information or security footage that could help solve the crimes is asked to contact Stratford Police at 519-271-4141 ex. 2.
