An alert has been issued by Grey Bruce Public Health after three opioid-related overdoses occurred over the weekend.
According to the Health Unit, the overdoses took place in Owen Sound on September 5 and 6. The suspected substance was fentanyl in one case and unknown in the other cases.
Those who you use drugs are continually encouraged to have naloxone on hand and always to have a sober friend with them who can administer it in case of an overdose.
Naloxone is available at pharmacies and participating community partners, and at Grey Bruce Public Health during regular hours, no appointment needed.
The Health Unit reminds people that the Good Samaritan Act provides legal protection for those who seek emergency help during an overdose.
