UPDATE: School bus crashes in Stratford

Police in Stratford say two people were hurt when a school bus went off the road and hit a tree.

Police, Perth Paramedics, and Stratford firefighters arrived at John Street South near Dingman Place about 8:30 a.m. on November 2 to find a bus with extensive front end damage, had knocked down a tree.

There were eleven elementary aged students on board, who were treated by paramedics. One student was taken to hospital with neck pain, and the driver was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police closed John Street for several hours for clean up, but it has since reopened.

A driver faces a charge of careless driving.

This was the second serious crash involving a school bus in the region on Thursday. A collision involving a school bus and a van near Tillsonburg claimed the life of the van driver. The school bus driver, who was the only person on the bus, was not hurt.
