COVID-19 outbreak at Seaforth hospital over

An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Seaforth Community Hospital has been declared over by Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH).

The outbreak was declared in the Inpatient Unit on September 27th.

"Upon declaring the outbreak, immediate precautions were implemented, including prevalence testing for patients," Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Control Manager Erica Jensen said.

The Unit has re-opened to admissions and transfers and visitors are once again allowed.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) is reminding the public that masks are once again required in clinical areas at all hospital sites, including in patient rooms.

"While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses that are circulating in Huron Perth," Jensen said.

She encouraged people to get up to date on vaccines, mask up, and wash their hands frequently. "It is important that you aren’t visiting loved ones in the hospital when you are not feeling well as these patients are at a higher risk for complications," she added.
