Local fire team does well at FireFit Championships

The Bruce Power fire team showed very well at the recent FireFit National and World Championships.

Held at Lambton College from September 13-17, the Bruce Power team finished first in the industrial mixed relay.

The competition this year saw a record for female competitors, and the female firefighters from Bruce Power placed third in overall best times.

The team included Courtney Bell, Kayla Pate and Lauren Messer, Curtis Kealey, Captain Ryan Lawrence and Daryl Sebesta.

“The entire team had a very good performance including several personal best times for both the men and women,” said Steve Shute, Department Manager, Bruce Power EPS Fire.

“The season was successful in all aspects with the team showing great pride and professionalism while representing Bruce Power at all previous events that led up the championship, including the regionals in Port Elgin,” added Terri Allen, Section Manager, EPS Fire.”
